Close to the lovely city of Granada (Andalucia, Spain, European Union). Next to the Sierra Nevada mountains, lie a naturally preserved secluded countryside named "The Alpujarra".
Browse right here mundogreen.com and discover a magical hidden treasured place. Great for ecotourism: hiking, cycling, horse-riding, etc...
The Alpujarra is also the right place to relocate.
"Preppers" and "modern survivalists" settle in the Alpujarra their survival retreat to improve their self-sufficiency, their resilience and mitigate the predicaments of the continuing industrial civilisation collapse.

This was early april (the 8th.), a lovely warm and sunny day, and I decided to climb up above the village toward the cemetary (Strange though cemetaries use to enjoy the nicest views).
I was wondering if I was able to climb and cycle across the Sierra Nevada.
Well! I was not at that time fit enough ( May 2dn. 2012) and my ascend was incredibly slow, around 3-4 km per hour.
Another warm and nice day yesterday! So I decided to make a rather small training trip on the valley.
"More troubles loom on the horizon today than ever before" say James H. when he offered me another beer while we were sitting on his porch, in front of his peaceful garden and overlooking the "Contraviesa" mountain.
Far from being the old stereotype survivalist waco, James is an open extravert guy with a solid background as an engineer. He is a typical example of the "good guy", ready to climb the corporate lader, and yet, he decided to relocalize here in a nice homestead (his "cortijo" in spanish), setting his workshop and building resilience to ward his family.
From long time ago, the Alpujarras had always attracted independant minded and highly spirited people. Artists writers craftsmen or others simply running away from the hustle and bustle of life in Northern Europe.

I always begin my writing in English, strangely enough as this is not my mother's language!
